Weight gain is one of the classic and typical symptoms when women are going through the menopausal transition. There are a few reasons for this, one would be due to metabolism change, because of the hormones. If you think about it, our bodies have gone through 30 odd years of ovulating, having a period and having consistent exposure to all of the hormones involved in the menstrual cycle – and then it all stops. That alone takes a big toll on the body, and it will take a while for the body to re-establish homeostasis, hence, it impacts one’s weight.
