The best part about waking up…is going back to bed!
We’re just kidding. Well, sometimes. Let’s be honest. The morning isn’t always our favorite time of day. In fact, our first thought upon waking up has occasionally been, “When can I take a nap, today?”
If you’re not a morning person, you know what we’re talking about. And having energy in the morning…that’s an impossible dream. Without a jolt of caffeine, we might as well be fire-breathing dragons!
So, what can you do if you’re a wretched riser? There’s no foolproof fix, but there are a few tips and tricks you can use to make your morning less of a nightmare.
- Drink Water Before Bed
Drinking a glass of water before bed will ensure that you wake up with a full bladder. It’s actually a good thing. It will get you out of bed and prevent you from falling back to sleep. Just make sure you don’t drink too much and end up running to the bathroom in the middle of the night.
- Keep Your Blinds Open
We like to sleep in complete darkness as much as the next person, but it does present some issues when we wake up. The better idea is to open your blinds before going to sleep, that way the sun acts as your natural alarm clock come morning.
- Drink Energy Tea
Sometimes we start the morning with coffee, sometimes with English Breakfast Tea. However, on our best days, we start out with Energy Tea. Our Energy Tea is made with the optimal amount of caffeine and other ingredients to help gently support our energy levels while making us feel happier we’re alive.
- Change Your Alarm Clock Sound
If you get jolted awake by a blaring horn, STOP! That’s terrible. Instead, set your alarm clock to wake you up with your favorite music. It will make it so you hate your alarm a little less and give you a happier and more positive start to your day.
- Don’t Go To Bed Upset
You’ve probably heard this before as part of relationship advice, but it’s also sleep advice. Going asleep while you’re sad, upset, or anxious will ensure that you have a terrible night of sleep. Don’t let the sun set on an argument or leave something unfinished. You’ll sleep better and wake up happier and more energetic when everything is good.
- Find the Right Temperature
Your body doesn’t rest well in rooms that are too hot or too cold. Find the right balance in your room between so cold you’re shivering and so hot you’re sweating. The right temperature can make all the difference.
- Exercise Right Away
When you’re groggy in the morning, the last thing you probably want to do is exercise. The truth is that it might not feel great that day, but you’ll have more energy the day after. Then, if you keep up the exercise, your energy will continue to increase, and you’ll feel like a morning person.
- Wake Up Immediately
When you wake up in the morning, when your alarm goes off, don’t hit the snooze. The best thing you can do is bounce out of bed immediately. No matter how tired you feel, getting out of bed as soon as you wake will help you feel more alert and fresh.
- Eat Breakfast
Food can be incredibly stimulating. Your body hasn’t eaten for at least eight hours so a small and easy-to-digest meal in the morning will give you the burst of energy you so desperately desire.
You don’t have to be a morning person to have a better morning. Try our nine tricks and start waking up happier, easier, and more energetic.
