Everyone knows that Mondays suck and Tuesdays aren’t much better. In fact, some weeks it can seem like every day is a Monday. Don’t let the stress of the work week get you down. You can improve your mood in just a few steps.
- Ask yourself “What’s wrong?”
Sometimes just figuring out why you’re in a funk can help you figure out how to get out of it.
- Don’t blame yourself.
Bad days happen. Bad moods happen. If you want to improve your mood, don’t lambast yourself for being in a bad mood in the first place. Accept your mood, and then work to get around it.
- Dress to impress.
It’s amazing what a difference an outfit can make. If you’re having a bad day, put on your favorite clothes and wear your best makeup because you feel good when you feel like you look good.
- Play with a furry friend.
Whether you have a dog, cat, bunny, or something else, just 15 minutes spent with your fur-baby can make a big difference. In fact, it’s been researched to release feel-good hormones.
- Do a good deed.
If you’re having a tough day, do something nice for someone else who might also be having a bad day. You’ll be surprised how the effects rebound onto you.
- Look at old photos.
That’s right, looking at old photos can improve your mood by 11%, which is more than alcohol, music, chocolate, and TV.
- Think positive.
Your mind controls your mood. Don’t keep thinking about how bad everything is. Avoid negativity like the plague, including negative people, and dwell on all the amazing things that are happening in your life, the world, for your friends, and for your family.
We all get in the occasional funk, but we don’t have to stay there. You can improve your mood in just a few steps, and don’t forget to smile!
