Yoga is great! It stretches our muscles, helps us relax, and creates a calmer, happier, and more productive you. Also, the pants are incredible!
However, not all of us enjoy practicing yoga at the gym or in a class. If you don’t have time to go out, or you don’t want to go out, try our yoga at home tips. After all, no one needs to see your downward dog pose but you.
Create a yoga space
If you’re going to do yoga at home, choose a great spot. Set up your mat in your living room, on your back deck, in your bedroom, or in a dedicated exercise room. The key is to choose a space where you feel comfortable and where you have room. And don’t forget to pick up a yoga mat.
Dress in yoga gear
Just because you’re not heading to the gym or class, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t dress in the right yoga outfit. Wear comfortable clothes that will allow you to stretch without getting in your way.
Choose a yoga routine
Don’t just play around in your living room. If you’re going to effectively do yoga at home, have a routine or a series of exercises in mind. Women’s Health Magazine has a great list of at-home yoga exercises to get you started.
Consistency is key. The only way you’ll get the benefits of doing yoga at home is if you practice regularly. Make it a part of your weekly, if not daily, routine. Even if you can only get in a 10-minute routine, make it happen.
Yoga shouldn’t be torture. Make sure you enjoy yourself while you’re practicing your routine. Don’t push yourself too hard, but don’t go easy on yourself either. If you’re a beginner, start with these easier poses.
