Dairy & Gluten

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), bloating and diarrhoea (most associated with gluten & dairy) are common symptoms of an imbalanced gut. By balancing and healing the gut, occasionally digesting gluten or dairy won’t cause you any more discomfort.

Fruit

Often the ‘bad guy’, fructose (found in fruit) can ferment in the gut, causing irritation by the time it reaches the lower intestine. In TCM, fruits are seen as seasonal and more easily digested in the warmer months – so if it’s winter where you are, save the fruit for summer.

Salad

The body is warm in nature, and salads and raw vegetables are generally cold, according to TCM this is why they’re difficult to digest. Swap your salads for soups, your gut will thank you.

Nuts & Seeds

Nuts contain a natural compound called phytate – which is mostly indigestible to humans. Activating them by soaking, helps to reduce the amount of phytate.
