Where Did My Libido Go?

Stomach pains, blood clots, and a missing libido.

I am 29 years old and going to share my battle with hormonal imbalances and irregular periods (and possible infertility). I had been taking low-estrogen birth control pills for a few years in my early twenties. I never had any issues with them until I took a few years off of them, then tried to resume taking them again. I was put on a new pill (this one consisting of higher levels of hormones) and within two weeks of use, I developed a massive blood clot in the calf of one of my legs. My leg swelled up to twice its normal size and I had to immediately discontinue usage of the pill. That very month was the moment everything went downhill.

It was the first month I began experiencing bacterial vaginosis, as well as an immediate drop in libido. My hair also immediately dried out (seemingly overnight). I also began having terrible stomach pains, which lasted for several years. It’s silly to think it took me a few years to narrow down that I was experiencing a hormonal imbalance, but if I knew then what I know now….! I was finally able to alleviate the majority of my symptoms of hormonal imbalance and irregular periods by drinking dong quai and vitex teas. Dong quai is known as the “female ginseng” and it really works! Fast-acting as well! I still have a long road to recovery in order to be able to have children. I have only been trying these new remedies this last year, so when the time comes for me to have children, hopefully it will not be a struggle! I have not become pregnant or even had any scares, even though I have been intimate with my partner for the last 3 years. I am hoping that in time, it will happen for us!

<3 Thank you for listening to my story.
