Basically I have the worst luck ever with my female parts and I hope my story makes you feel much better about yours! About eight months ago I started getting a pain in my lower abdomen. It was pretty bad so my partner took me to the ER where they sent me home because there was ‘nothing wrong with me’. The week later I was still in pain so I went to my GP who sent me for my first ultrasound.
I returned to my GO a week later after having my ultrasound to find that I had one whopper of an ovarian cyst that had to be operated on immediately because it was so large and twisting! Three weeks later I had more pain that put me back in ER, that night I was once again operated on due to 4 more huge cysts that were twisting. A month later it happened again with more emergency surgery. My specialist then looked into it a little further and found that I have a brain tumour which is releasing hormones that keep causing them to come back.
Three more operations later due to the hormone treatment not working and more cysts appearing (they were massive) brings me to today where I was diagnosed with endometriosis as well as the reoccurring cysts so more surgery. Yay. The doctors have now decided they are going to medically induced menopause at the age of 23 to try and give me a break.
Just remember it’s okay to talk about it! I was so uninformed about all my lady bits before this but now I am determined to help spread the word that it is important to understand your girly parts!
