Since I could remember getting my period I’d gotten gut wrenching pains in my abdomen randomly throughout the month. My mum, doctors, everyone told me it was part of being a women; I knew something was wrong but I ignored it. Until last year I had a severe fever in the middle of summer, it got so bad I was shacking and had to be taken to the emergency room. I was in and out of consciousness and no one knew what was going on. They thought it was appendicitis but when I had an ultrasound they discovered a bundle of cysts on my ovaries. I had surgery and when I came out I was informed I had been internally bleeding from ruptured ovarian cysts and I could have died.
After so many doctors appointments I was diagnosed with PCOS.
I felt so betrayed by every doctor I’d been to and so confused by who I was now. I have to now monitor every pain I have and skin periods with the pill so I don’t hopefully develop more cysts.
