There’s no doubt that we love tea, maybe even more than is considered normal. However, in spite of our obsession, we’ll admit that we’ve never tried to break a world record for tea. Though, there are quite a few people who have. According the Guinness World Records website, tea itself holds the title of “oldest cultivated plant for drink”.

Most Cups of Tea Made in One Hour
A team of 12 individuals from Lidl, Ireland achieved the most cups of tea made in one hour. At The National Ploughing Championships in Ratheniska, County Laois, they made 1,848 cups. In fact, they completed the record in just 43 minutes and used their own brand of tea!
Largest Tea Party
32,681 people attended the largest tea party on record. It happened in Dainik Bhaskar (India) on February 24, 2008. Brooke Bond Red Label was the chosen brew and the Tea Board of India supported the event.
Largest Tea Cosy
Bupa care homes residents across the UK, Spain, and New Zealand knitted the largest tea cosy on April 9, 2009. The final tea cosy totaled 1,924 squares. It stands at 3.9 meters high and 11.1 meters in circumference.
Largest Iced Tea
The largest iced tea ever made was 2,204 US gallons. It was brewed Lipton in Baltimore, Maryland, USA, on October 21, 2015. The iced tea was brewed using 213 pounds of loose black tea, and was chilled to 33 degrees F.
Largest Cup of Tea
The largest cup of tea ever brewed was a whopping 4,000 liters and was produced by GlaxoSmithKline Beecham for Viva, at Burgher Recreation Club grounds in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on October 9, 2010. The tea cup was named the “VIVA” tea cup and measures 10 feet in height and 8 feet in width.

The largest collection of tea bag tags belongs to Josefia Zukerman and consists of 635 covers as of April 21, 2013. She lives in Tarzana, California and started her tea bag covers collection in 2009.

Mimi Wilfong has a collection of 116 different tea bag holders, as of June 2009, that she has amassed since 1992. Encouraged by her mother who is also an avid dinnerware collector, Mimi started her collection when she was seven years old. Most of the items are vintage and have been found in antique shops.
Largest Collection of 3-piece tea sets
The largest collection of 3-piece tea sets consists of 999 full sets and belongs to Pyrmonter Fuerstentreff. His set is displayed in Bad Pyrmont, Germany. The record was achieved during the 16th annual Pyrmonter Fuerstentreff. The 999 full sets consist of 2,097 individual pieces of porcelain. Each set is unique.
Largest Ceramic Teapot
The largest ceramic teapot is 1.8 meters in height and 1.5 meters in diameter. It was designed and fabricated by Sanbao Xu (China). The teapot is made of purple sand and can hold 22 pounds of tea. The cover of the pot weighs 132 pounds.
Largest Simultaneous Tea Party
The largest simultaneous tea party was arranged by The Cancer Council (Australia) and involved 280,246 participants at 6,062 locations across Australia. Over $7M (AUD) was raised for cancer research and patient support services.
